1. Milas, Muğla (Feb. 3-7, 2022)

Between February 3-7, 2022, a field study was organized in one of the project sites, Milas. The METU team consisting of Assoc. Dr. Ayşe Güliz Bilgin Altınöz, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sibel Yıldırım Esen, Dr. Elif Sırt Çıplak, Dr. Özgün Özçakır and Tuğçe Yürük, with the participation of Dr. Yasemin Didem Aktas and Dr.  Valentina Marincioni from the UCL carried out the study. The aim of the study was to hold a meeting with the stakeholders about the current status and progress of the project, to examine the historical urban texture of Milas, to make new technical studies in the Kazım Sarıoğlu House, and to collect the equipment in line with the completed measurements. For these purposes, a meeting was held with Milas Municipality Mayor Muhammet Tokat on February 4, 2022, and he was informed about the project. Afterwards, the project team held a meeting with experts working in the field of cultural heritage and the experts were informed about the progress and technical details of the project.

After the meetings, the project team moved to Kazım Sarıoğlu House for measurements to be made. Measurements were made with a leak checker, temperature sensors were installed and air movements were observed with special devices.

On February 5, 2022, the project team carried out studies to comprehend the historical urban fabric of Milas, the construction technique in traditional houses, and street-housing relations.

               

2. Güdül, Ankara ( February 8, 2022) 

On February 8, 2022 the project team visited Beypazarı and a field study was carried out in Güdül. In order to understand the urban texture and traditional architecture in the surrounding settlements, Beypazarı Historical City Center was visited. Afterwards, a meeting was held with the local government officials about the progress and developments of the project and Tahsin Sezgin House, which is the selected traditional house for the project, was visited. Devices that were installed in the building that had completed the measurement process were collected. With a thermal camera, examinations were made about heat loss, air leakage and humidity in all rooms on the first and second floors of the house.
